My Story

Welcome! My name is Valerie Murphy and I would like to start by saying that I absolutely love what I do. I feel fortunate every day to run this unique breast care service in the Midwest of Ireland. Introducing the latest, fashionable products to women along with getting the right fit for you is my passion.

While living in Austin Texas with my family in 2012, I became a volunteer with a local Breast Cancer Centre. From talking to survivors, I became aware of a need for a one to one, consultation service, giving women choice of good quality mastectomy products along with the choice of having a fitting in the comfort of their own home. Recently, I introduced a personal consultation service, via technology with my customers. This has worked very well using skype, whatsapp video call or phone, from my specialised lingerie shop.

Working with different suppliers around the world, I can provide women with exactly what they need. In America, I was fortunate to receive advanced training with the company ‘Nearly Me Technologies’, and on moving back to Ireland in 2013, I built on this expertise by further training with UK and European brands. I continued volunteer work with local cancer services. I have enjoyed fundraising and raising awareness for The Marie Keating Foundation, The Irish Cancer Society & The Mid-Western Cancer Foundation to name a few.

Through helping to organise a charity ball & write a cookbook in 2016, I am proud to have raised thousands of Euros for the Breast Clinic in University Hospital Limerick. For many years, I have been the resident mastectomy fitter in the wonderful cancer support centres, Circle of Friends in Tipperary Town and Gort Cancer Support Centre, Galway.

As a Volunteer, I have given talks on breast awareness and good breast health to hundreds of women in communities within the Irish Mid-West. Speaking about being breast aware & reminding women that early detection saves lives has been a key part of my service. In 2017, along with my local TD, I met with Government officials in Leinster House, to ensure Irish women retained sufficient entitlements for mastectomy products through the HSE. Being an advocate for women’s health is very much a part of my work and when asked I am always happy to take part at events. Valerie’s Breast Care is even the proud sponsor of my local Ladies Gaelic Football team! Keeping healthy and happy within ourselves is important for our overall wellbeing.
